The God Machine Review - Chandra Free

I'm a pretty big Tim Burton fan, and taking one glance at the cover of THE GOD MACHINE by Chandra Free, I decided instantly to love the art style.
Tell me that's not beautiful! I love it! It's so reminiscent, and yet totally different, than Burton's style. The unique, otherworldly art is a constant throughout the story, and it lends an amazing feel to what I'd already describe as the "ultimate Gothic" comic in my collection, if not period.
There's teen angst, and heartbreak. The universal, and eternal, battle between good and evil, Heaven and Hell, Gods and Devils. Clueless friends who just don't understand the main characters pain, and a God who just doesn't understand what in the Hello Kitty is going on.

So let's get to it.

Meet Guy. He's your normal teenage dude, what with his dead girlfriend and run-ins with Satan and monster-ish hallucinations... Oh, wait. You don't have those too? That makes sense, because no one else ever sees anything, and he's almost convinced that he's out of his mind because of grief. He's got these two friends, who would be great if they stopped throwing pity parties for him and the girlfriend of one wasn't such a total whore and kept sleeping around... But that's not the point.
The point is, he misses his girlfriend. Sith is dead, his heart has been obliterated and now he's being told his girlfriend is NOT dead?
And that the Gods in charge of existence allowed this to happen?
Unacceptable!

Satan is pushing for revenge, and there's no telling what a broken heart will do to get some answers.
